Who are you?
We are a small upstart in PEI, striving for the best quality for the best possible price.
I see. If you are so small how can you offer such good prices?
well, to put it quite simply, we have very little overhead. We don’t have expensive copiers to run. We don’t own a press. We don’t have many employees. We don’t need to keep a variety of paper in stock. What we do have, is access to the largest trade printing company in Canada, and over a decade of experience in the graphic design and printing industry. This allows us to offer a select range of products at huge discounts to you. Our printer has been in business for over 20 years and has high quality stock and printing. They can do it so cheap because they can set up hundreds of orders at once and get them done in one shot.
I wonder what other companies business cards will be printed at the same time as yours…
How long does printing usually take?
Depending on the product we say it takes about 10-12 business days just in case. It’s usually ready for pick up in less than 6, though.
Can you handle the design work, or will i need to provide my own?
It is faster if the art comes to us “camera-ready”. The file needs to be provided in adobe PDF format. It’s okay if you have it in another format, we can convert it for a small fee. We’ll then send you a PDF file so you can make sure everything looks good before it is sent to print.
If you do need a design made up, that’s not a problem. Our rate is $60/hr for design, with a minimum charge of $30 due before work begins. We’ll talk to you and figure out what meets your needs. A proof will be made up and sent off to you to make sure everything looks good and is spelled correctly. email us back and let us know if changes need to be made, or if you want to have it printed.
Typos and small textual changes will be provided free, with other edits clocking in for $10.
I have a designer, how should I tell them to set up the files?
The files need to be set up with a .0625″ ( 1/16) bleed all the way around the edge. They also need to have a .0625 “safe” margin around the edge as well. So if you were to order business cards the final size would be 3.5″x2″. Your designers file would need to be 3.625″ x 2.125″ with no text inside 1/8″ (0.125) or it will be rejected.
Vector images work best for print materials. They give nice clean lines. Alternatively 300 DPI CMYK will work well. If an image we receive is less than 300 DPI, we cannot be held responsible for the image quality blurry/blockiness.
Printed products that have more than one side or page (like a 2 sided business card) must be supplied to us as a multiple page PDF. Designers rocking InDesign will have no problems. If you have a newer version of Illustrator (CS4+) you can have multiple pages in one file.Photoshop will allow you to combine multiple files into a PDF using the batch command. A nasty side effect though is it will convert vectors to bitmaps, and that can make text look blurry. If you DON’T have these lovely programs, no worries. There is an application called PDF Split and Merge (PDFSAM) that can do this for you. We can combine multiple PDFs into one for you if you wish, at a rate of $2 per page.
If you or your designer have any questions feel free to contact us.
Also, buy your designer a coffee……designers freaking LOVE caffeine.
Can you guarantee colours?
Only as much as we can guarantee that the sun will be shining today. Colours will vary slightly. This cannot be helped. The differences in equipment between my monitor, your monitor, my printer, your printer, and our suppliers press, and the stock it gets printed to are huge. The final product will most likely be slightly different than what you see on the screen, and what comes out of your printer.
We will consider a re-print if the colours are way off, but we reserve the right to decide if they acceptable are on a case by case basis.
Do you do Pantone?
No, sorry. Pantone is expensive.
